Frequently Asked Questions

Basic Information

What is the cost of a trip?

The cost is $200 per person for the first 4 hours.

Each additional hour is $25 per person per hour.

How long is the trip?

Each trip is 4 hours long. It starts when we reach the water and begin fishing, unless you would prefer to fish longer for an additional cost.

How many people do you take at a time?

I limit the party to two (2) anglers. My goal is to make sure you get maximum attention and have fun!

Additional Information

Do you provide transportation?

No. We will agree to meet at a predetermined location, then from there you will follow me to our fishing destination.

What is the starting time of each trip?

The old adage, "the early bird catches the worm" does hold true, especially for spring, summer, and fall fishing. During the winter months, we do get a later start to let the water warm a bit. (Yes, we do catch fish in the winter!) When we decide where we will meet, a starting time will be agreed upon by all parties.

What equipment will I need to bring?

I will supply the rod, reel, flies, and terminal tackle needed to get you started. You will need to bring boots, either waders or hip boots. You are encouraged to bring your own rod and reel setup. Remember, we are fly fishing, so no spinning rods/reels or bait casting rods/reels. Please also note to dress appropriately for the conditions of the day.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. New Jersey requires any resident between the ages of 16-69 to have a license, as well as a trout stamp. Non-residents from the age of 16 and up need to purchase a non-resident license and a non-resident trout stamp. These can be purchased online.

Will we be in the water?

Most likely, yes. We will be crossing streams to reach more productive spots as well as positioning ourselves to maximize our opportunities.

What if I'm a beginner or new to fly fishing?

Great! I will show you everything you need to know to get started so hopefully you will go out on your own and enjoy the wonderful sport of fly fishing!

Do you take female parties?

Absolutely! Some of the best fly fishers in the world are women.

Do you supply food for the trip?

No. You are, however, certainly welcome to bring your own food! I will have bottled water in a cooler for anyone who would like some.
